Sérgio Moro: It is not the right time — and I repeat — it is not the right time for us to fill this vacancy on the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal)!
Sérgio Moro: We would first need to discuss a broad reform of the institution, as Senator Plínio Valério was saying before me: let us return to discussing the issue of the term of office.
Why does this debate not move forward? Let it be 12 years of tenure for a justice of the STF (Supreme Federal Tribunal); let them not be lifetime appointments; let us consider establishing an age requirement, a minimum age.
Sérgio Moro: Today the justices have the prospect of remaining 20 or 30 years in their position, and this is not at all healthy, especially because today the court is practically uncontrollable, because there is no institution exercising that control.
Sérgio Moro: We have that election up ahead. So let us leave it to the next elected President to make that choice.
