Samara Martins: That now everyone, each one, does their own self-defense and everyone goes around shooting and solving their own problems, taking justice into their own hands.
Samara Martins: Because... today they have been used against women, not to protect women.
But even in our women's movement, in the Olga Benário women's movement, we've been holding, what's it called, self-defense workshops for women.
Samara Martins: Including with other things that aren't lethal weapons sometimes, also because it's expensive to get a gun permit; it's not for everyone.
Samara Martins: So one class arms itself, another class doesn't—at least not for defense.
