Samara Martins: And then I became aware of the need for my organization.
And then I joined the União da Juventude Rebelião, which is a politically organized youth in defense of socialism, of revolution.
Samara Martins: socialist, and then I began to see myself as a political person, understanding myself as a Black woman, because that was also a political journey: at first you reject your own characteristics, not accepting your hair, your color, your class issues, and I began to understand myself as a political being.
Samara Martins: But it all starts in the student movement, in my school's students' union — I was part of the school's union — and in the student demonstrations.
