Samara Martins: understanding, moreover, that the electoral period is when the people discuss politics.
Samara Martins: Because this limited democracy we have, which allows the Brazilian people to participate only by voting every two years — and that's the most the Brazilian people will have, to vote every two years — we defend, moreover, that the people should participate in decisions, including decisions... and there are constitutional prerogatives for the people to participate in those decisions.
So, if it's possible for our people to take part in decisions, it's possible for them to recognize the transformative power we have.
Samara Martins: And the electoral process is that moment when they're open to listen, to choose who their candidates are, to say 'this one represents me, this one doesn't represent me' — a moment that, incidentally, the same financial oligarchies use to buy our people.
Samara Martins: And then they bought the vote of our people by saying they would pay for what they needed at that moment, but afterwards they spend four years, eight years, legislating in their own interest and not for the workers' cause.
