Mateus Simões: That's why whenever I'm in the State I say what I just said here — that I think the STF is a disgrace — and that my vote for the Senate will be guided essentially by understanding this year what the position of the senator I'm voting for (the two votes I will cast) is regarding the STF.
Mateus Simões: Senator Carlos Viana already has my vote precisely because he has taken a firm stance in dealing with the STF's behavior over the past years.
It's not about persecuting a minister of the STF, but about restricting the judiciary to its proper domain.
Mateus Simões: Because there is no worse dictatorship than a judicial dictatorship in which powers are taken precisely by those who are not subject to any control, which is the case of our courts.
Mateus Simões: Moreover, the bad example set above ends up proliferating downward and this contaminates the behavior of other courts, where people begin to believe themselves untouchable.
